I just got into Harvard SCEA, but have got some classmates, who have threatened me to write to the university pretending to be the principal of another school. They have been blackmailing me about sending an email that projects me as a bad human being and a fraud. If they do, will Harvard take action?
Anyone?
Please help!
It’s only been five minutes since you posted – try to be patient, these forums don’t move all that fast.
Can’t you tell an authority figure at your high school?
this makes no sense. If its not true its not true. You can sue them for libel --what are they blackmailing you for?
- Is there any basis to them calling you a "fraud?"
- Blackmail should be reported to authorities, if only your HS. Document.
Have asked, but they don’t seem to care about “foolish children”, as they can “potentially” do anything. That’s why I am very anxious… What if they actually send a mail pretending to be a principal?
They have been threatening to write saying that I was actually rusticated from another school, and forged records/transcripts and admission documents. For the record, NO, I have not forged any document (all the transcripts were sent by the school’s official counsellor’s through email), nor was I thrown out of any other high school (as reflected from my admission records at my current high school)
Should I be concerned?
If they actually follow through, which I doubt, Harvard will do proper due diligence through your school, counselor, etc and if there’s nothing there there’s nothing to worry about.
Again I ask, Do they have “dirt” (bad person, fraud, in your words) on you?
Unless there is truth to what they are saying (which would be a whole other story) I would not worry. If they send a letter pretending to be someone else, that would be easy to disprove. This would have worse implications on them and I wouldn’t be so sure to think they will throw away their futures on this.
These guys are kind of the worst guys in my class, and I do admit that I am kind of a nerd, and they have been constantly threatening me, while the authorities have been acting indifferently to my complaints.
Is there anything these guys can actually do?
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
No
College Admissions Officers did not just fall off the turnip truck. Do you really think that AO’s have never heard of application sabotage or that they will give any credence to an anonymous report? The answer is no.
This topic has been around since Eve offered an apple to Adam. An example.

Aside from being the definitive answer, this thread is going around in circles, so I am closing.
