Has anyone actually had this happen?

Has anyone actually gotten their admissions decision revoked? Do you physically know anyone to whom it's happened?

I wonder if it's a rumor.

Yes, I want to know too. If you or anyone you know has actually had their admission revoked, speak up. And tell us about the circumstances. Because I am extremely paranoid.

Harvard revoked Blair Hornstine's acceptance.

I looked it up: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blair_Hornstine%5B/url%5D">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blair_Hornstine</a></p>

Apparently, "it was shown she had plagiarized repeatedly in a newspaper column, prompting Harvard University to revoke its offer of admission."

Blair accepted her spot at Harvard and planned to attend in the fall, but Harvard asked her to explain her dishonest behavior. In an apology published in The Courier-Post[2], Blair said that her plagiarism resulted from a "lack of training in journalism." In early July, Harvard rescinded its offer of admission.

Director of Undergraduate Admissions Marlyn McGrath Lewis declined to comment on Hornstine's case specifically, but she discussed the five conditions under which admissions might generally be revoked, including "if you engage in behavior that brings into question your honesty, maturity, or moral character."

So how about some people who didn't receive national news coverage for having their admission revoked? :P

BUMP THIS...This is soo important and is the overwhelming thread topic as of late...

Well, my school's administrators keep telling us to do our work b/c it happened to a student at our school before. But I don't know whether I should take them seriously b/c they told us to refer to our free period not as a "free" but as a "study period" and to actually study...not happenin'

I wish someone would just come along and post something to the effect of "OMG SCARE TACTIC" because it would make me feel that much better.

Blair Hornstine is totally a hctib...

alright sorry if I repost, just wanna reiterate.
I apologise for what I am about to say, so please don't judge me. Why is this like tenth thread I've read almost in row, "help my grades dropped will my acceptence be rescinded." What did everyone suddenly figure they were out of the blue because they were accepted. Seriously slacking off versus failing is huge. Step up and take responsibility for your actions. I apologize if I am so frank so hate me. I admit I got a little lazy and procrastinate, but in no way put my grades in jeopardy.

My friend had his revoked, from a couple of pretty 'prestigious' schools. He went to rehab second semester of his senior year and wasn't able to graduate.

btw after reading the blair incident, anyone know where she ended up?

A kid at my school last year got his acceptance rescinded from UC Irvine because he got a D and an F in Trig on his senior report card.

He now goes to a junior college.

bouncechrissy: Did he get the D and the F in the same semester?

this is really terrible

oz: no, he got the D first semester and the F second semester.

Oh, shiet. I am in that situation as well. I think I'm gonna go cry.

ARGH.

I think it's hilarious how we have like one CC user who has known some one who got their admissions revoked because of grades and there's so many people freaking out.

Wow, this Blair girl is phenomenally unpopular. I never knew anyone who's NOT a celebrity and gets attacked with rotten eggs. She even has someone create a petitiononline page against her. I don't like the way this report sounds favorable for her though: <a href="http://lawlibrary.rutgers.edu/fed/html/ca03-1953-1.html%5B/url%5D">http://lawlibrary.rutgers.edu/fed/html/ca03-1953-1.html</a>
Heck, if that plagiarism incident hadn't happened, I wouldn't have let her in Harvard anyway b/c of her unpleasantness. To think there are actually people like that out there shudders

evil person, she is

I don't get it, why does everyone hate her?
