will harvard pay to fly students in to attend admit weekend?

i have heard that they would do this, but i am not sure. the reason i ask is because IF i get into any east coast schools such as those of ivy league caliber, i wouldn't have the money myself to fly so this would really ease any worries. what other schools offer this? thanks

Yale did this for me, and I'm figuring out whether MIT does or not right now.

I know that Cornell does for minorities that get accepted (and not even all of them, just many of them), but I've wondered about the other Ivies though.

I'm wondering this too. MIT bought my plane ticket to/from CPW.

Given Harvard's financial problems, I suspect they won't pay for your flight unless you're in dire financial need. Just a guess though.

For any of the weeklong pre-move-in experiences for new freshmen, Harvard will cover the same portion of a student's expenses as the percentage of their total costs that is covered through need-based aid. It may be the same for Prefrosh Weekend - check with the Aid office.

During my interview, I was told Princeton would (not that I'm getting in, but still, coolio!). As for Harvard and the others....man, I hope. There is no way I'll be able to visit otherwise. :(

do they do it for international students?

Princeton and Yale had paid for mine but Harvard didn't...but I do know someone who did get her visit funded by Harvard because of financials.

My interviewer, who is an admissions officer, told me yesterday that Harvard will pay for lower-income accepted students to visit the campus. She didn't say what the income cut-off is, but I'm assuming "lower-income" means less than $60 000 per year, as per the definition used by the Financial Aid Office. They might make exceptions for wealthier students from far-away places (like Singapore), but you'd have to call them to find out.

Huzzah! I'm under $60,000. =D

oh. thanks. i really hope they do. i really want to see the campus.

when is it this year?

as long as harvard admits me, i'd pay triple to go.

^ i agree with yaile =]
