Will I be able to get into UF with this GPA?

I am currently a sophomore in IB with a few C’s in core classes.
I have about a 3.167 unweighted GPA and a 3.75 weighted.
UF is my ideal school and I was wondering how much do I have to bring my GPA up in order to get into UF.

Only 5% (based on the latest UF Common Data Set) of admitted students have less than a 3.75 GPA. You need to get your GPA closer to a 4.1 to improve your chances. Since you’re a sophomore, you can still improve your GPA, but you really can’t afford any more “C’s”.

Also, don’t forget to get involved in a few extracurricular activities; work, sports, clubs, whatever…

Good Luck!

Please also note that the average acceptance criteria is only going to get more competitive within the next 3-5 years. The State of Florida has done an incredible job with holding tuition down for FL residents and offering scholarships that I think the residual effect is going to pay off with keeping the local talent in-state. Also, UF just allocated $300m toward their College of Engineering transformation so IMO, they should rank right up there with the other top public schools (e.g. GaTech & Cal Berkley) within the next 5 years. By 2017 or 2018, I’m guessing the Average SAT will increase by ~ 100 points and the average ACT will reflect an average increase of 2-3 points.

Thank you!
