Will I be able to go to a 4 yr university?

I’m currently a senior in high school. I was supposed to graduate last week but decided to repeat an year. It was an hard decision to make but I had to because of my GPA of 1.37. I was a very lazy POS in the past 3 years but I got my act together this year. I got A’s, B’s, and C’s this year. If I retake the classes I got D’s and F’s in, will that improve my GPA? I’m also going to summer school next week so I’ll get to retake 4 classes. I’ll try my hardest to get straight A’s or B’s in summer school. Next year I’m going to take 22 classes instead of the usual 14 classes. I’ll only take 5 classes in high school and I’ll take the rest at my local community college. If I get straight A’s or B’s next year, will I be able to go to a 4 year university?

Same thing happened with me except I averaged in about a 80 and I’m attending a 4 year University. I recommend you go to Community College and transfer after 2 years. If you don’t like the sound of CC then I recommend you show a GREAT improvement, A’s B’s And C’s won’t exactly cut it. Study for the SAT and score at least an 1800. Involve yourself in extracurriculars both in the school and outside. I see you want to be a doctor, inquire about volunteering in any local Hospital or Clinic. It’s difficult to get in but I highly recommend it.

Agree^^ CC will be a good option to you. Your GPA is too low. You can try but your GPA talks by itself. Have you taken SAT or ACT?

Yes you will. In fact, you could’ve gone to a 4 year college this year. There are many 4 year colleges that have open admissions and you can go there as long as you graduate. So many on CC look over this.

Here is a list of colleges the best open admissions colleges. http://learningpath.org/articles/Colleges_and_Universities_with_Automatic_Acceptance.html

You made the right decision.
Try to think why you got Fs, Ds, and Cs. Look at the biggest problem and its cause - then root out the cause (or avoid it). If it’s being distracted by your phone, switch it to plane when you do homework. If it’s a girlfriend or boyfriend, establish boundaries and times when no one can disturb you for any reason whatsoever. If it’s your own self indulgence for anything (legal or illegal), remove the temptation from view (at the very least).
Your plan sounds too ambitious to be successful though. You can’t go from failing grades in most of your classes to straight A’s and B’ in lots of demanding classes. It’s just impossible, no matter how motivated you are and how much you work. There’s a “learning curve” there.
Take it one step at a time: the 4 summer school classes. Do all the homework. Participate in class. Be “perfect”. Can you do that? Keep your eyes on the prize when you start wavering or reverting to your old self. That person isn’t you anymore - you’re a new you, ready to tackle the challenges of preparing for college. Make it clear to others so that they reinforce your change in attitude. Don’t let naysayers drag you down, or those who’d rather have you clown around for their benefit, push you into veering from your path. Stick to your new dedicated self.
I suppose you take 7 classes per semester at your HS, is that correct? And so you intend to take 3 classes per semester at the HS… and how many in community college? because a full load in CC (WITHOUT ANY HS class) is 5 classes a semester and that’s a LOT to handle.
So, first semester, take 5 courses at the high school and 1 class at the community college. Try to do your utmost to get straight A’s with no grade lower than a B (if you get anything lower than B-, go ask for help and get a tutor). It means you’ll be doing homework every evening. Get involved in clubs and sports - whatever strikes your fancy. And stick it out, no matter how discouraged you get. Stay with it and do your best.
If that semester works, register for more courses at the community college along with your 5 HS classes.
Remember that if you apply to college, get in, and get even ONE F they will rescind you and you’ll lose your place.

What State do you live in? What’s your parents’ budget? Can you go to college anywhere or will you have to commute?

You need to ask your HS about that. They decide if your new grades replace or just add to your old grades.
