Will I Be Able to Pull This One Off?

I spent 4 years in the military and I'm just now finishing 2 years of community college. I'm currently attempting to transfer with a stated econ major, but have recently come to realize that I have a desire to double major in business or econ and some form of engineering. The problem is that I don't have the science/math background to apply as an engineering transfer student, so I essentially need to get in somewhere as an econ major, and then have the freedom to say, "Surprise! I actually want to double in an additional course-intensive major, and it's going to take you a lot longer than you originally expected to get me out of here. Thanks for admitting me though!"

I realize that public schools will not let me do this, as a general rule of thumb. But can I pull this off somewhere? And if yes, any recommendations as to where?

As a reference, my attempt to get in to Stanford after 2 semesters of CC landed me on their waitlist, which the dean's office told me was pretty small- so I'm competitive I guess?

What geographical regions are you looking at for schools? How much do you care about prestige?

Sounds like you are living up to your username. It's not like colleges frown on students changing majors and taking forever to graduate. More money for them, and that's what it's all about.

I wouldn't double major, but would look for a major that could apply all your interested, i.e. operations management, inudstrial engineering, etc. Talk to a career counciler once you get into the university. Also, I find that major/degree doesn't always dictate your career choice. I guess what I am saying, go see a conciler and then decide. I think the double major can only hurt your gpa, especially if done at Stanford.
