Will I be considered an in-state applicant?

Hello!

I am currently a first year student at a university outside the US. I also did my high school outside the US. I am planning to apply to UT Austin as a transfer student early next year for fall 2018 admission. My parents moved to Texas earlier this year and will have been there for a year by July next year. I am also a US citizen.

So my question is, with the above considered, will I be classified as an in-state, or out-of state applicant?

Thank you!

You probably need to call UT directly because there is not much info on their page. I did find this on UTD’s page and they should have the same rules.

.A dependent whose parent:
Established domicile in Texas not less than 12 months before the census date of the academic semester in which the dependent enrolls at UT Dallas; and
Maintained domicile continuously in Texas for the 12 months immediately preceding the census date of the academic semester in which the dependent enrolls at UT Dallas.

The question is whether you are still a dependent. If you are and your parents have lived her more that a year from the census date then I think you are a resident. Below is worksheet with the core residency questions that hopefully should give you your answer.
