Will I be doing too much

Im planning on taking APUSH, AP physics 1, AP chemistry, AP English language, Spanish 3 honors, and honors Algebra 2. On top of that I will have an internship and a weekend job. Over the weekend I’ll be working 8 hours Saturday and Sunday. During the spring of 2018 I will also be taking precalculus at my local community college because I know Algebra 2 but my counselor won’t let me take it because i need a teacher recommendation. I also have to study for my SAT and ACT. I only play the violin for an hour everyday. Will i be doing too much? I don’t want to get burned out and then have bad grades. Im also going to run a club and join two other clubs

“Will i be doing too much?”

Probably, but only you can know.

What year are you going into? Note that in senior year students have essentially another heavy “unlisted” course, which consists of researching universities, visiting universities, applying to universities, writing essays to apply to universities, waiting for acceptances, deciding which university to go to, possibly visiting a few top choices again, understanding financial implications, and so on. This can take a lot of time and effort.

I’m going to be a junior.

How have you been doing in all your classes up to now? If you have been getting straight As and finding the workload easy, maybe you can handle a heavier load. Don’t sacrifice the quality of your work for quantity. Is the hour of violin a day something that relaxes you or is that something that adds to your stress? Some people like to have busy schedules and it helps them keep moving. Others like to have downtime. The course load alone is not something that I haven’t seen many kids do. Is this a normal course load for your school? You can always cut back on the ECs.

Well up to this point my classes have been really easy the only B I had was in Ap world History. Playing the violin relaxes me so I would like to find time to keep doing it. The course load is pretty common at my school except a lot students don’t take two Ap science courses.

I’ve seen kids take two AP sciences (or two AP maths) so it’s not unheard of. If it was Physics C and Chem, I would say that could be heavy but also considering you are not taking AP Calc AB/BC and seem to think Algebra 2 won’t be giving you a problem, I don’t think your schedule is too heavy but it will take some discipline and only you can answer if you can handle that.
