I'm in a weird situation. I paid my housing deposit before the deadline, but somehow I managed to miss the SIR deadline. I received an email saying:

"Our records indicate that we received a Housing Application and $30.00 Housing Application Fee from you but you did not submit a Statement of Intent to Register to the University. As a result, we regret to inform you that you are not guaranteed housing for the 2011-2012 academic year and you will not receive a housing offer."

I emailed the university right after, explaining the circumstances that led to me making such a stupid mistake, not expecting it to do make a difference, but surprisingly, they actually extended my SIR deadline. Now, I've submitted my SIR, but I don't know if I will be guaranteed housing. The office is closed till Tuesday so I can't even call and ask. Does anyone know how likely it is that I will get a housing offer?

Don’t worry about it.

UCLA won’t turn down you open wallet.

Couldn’t they easily just throw me into the “lottery”? Or could the fact that I paid the housing deposit on time and submitted my SIR by the extended deadline differentiate me from the people who missed the housing deposit deadline?

How do you even forget to SIR in the first place, you had almost 2 months…

I didn’t SIR in those two months because I wasn’t always sure UCLA was my first choice… And there’s an explanation behind my missing the deadline, but yes, I do know how ridiculous it is that that even happened.
bchplz, Is it really likely that I’d get off the waiting list since, as you say, there are a lot of 4th years who get preference over freshmen?

I actually did SIR today at around 2 pm. I submitted the housing app at 4:08pm. Got the same emsil! Ridiculous!
Emailed them, we’ll see what happens tomorrow…

wth i just got this same exact email too. I sir’d right after i did my housing application today.

can you tell me what they say SmartPants?
