Okay so I got in school suspension (ISS) for excessive tardies. This year was sort of terrible and I was late many times getting to school in the morning. The assistant principal noticed and gave me ISS for it during the last week of school. It was nice sitting in a quiet room but it got boring quickly and I found it to be a waste of time compared to sitting in my actual classes. For 3rd period, the lady who is head of National Honor Society (NHS) sits in as a substitute or whatever. It was embarrassing. I don’t know if she recognized me (this was after I was inducted and everything), but I don’t want to get kicked out over something stupid. I wasn’t sent any letter or informed that I would be kicked out, but I’m still worried about it. I am really thinking of emailing her to ask if I’m still in… (School’s been out since June).
If your teacher is anything like mine, she’ll be pretty lenient on things as long as they aren’t academic issues (cheating on tests, failing classes, etc.). If you really are worried, sending an email to apologize for how your year has gone and proposing a plan for how to do better will probably win you some points with her.
If you aren’t in NHS this upcoming school year then I would contact her about it (apologize, you’re not always getting tardies, it was a bad year, etc; ask why you got kicked out first though), but I don’t think you should worry about anything. If your teacher is nice or understanding then it should be fine.
Start taking being on time seriously…if you go to college you may be docked points for lateness or even not let in the classroom in some cases. If you are late to a lab they won’t let you do it. Also when you work, you need to be on time or you will get fired.
As for NHS…the main benefit of NHS is that you did well in school and that you did some service hours (if that is what is required)…so those things that colleges care about the most.
I do not think you would be kicked out of NHS unless it is in their rules…and even if you did, I am not sure a college would even know.
