Hi everybody, I am currently a senior and about to apply to UT at Austin, and was wondering, will I get in?? My rank is currently 102 of 936, I have scored a 1480 on the SAT, I am in HOSA(health occupations students of america) made state 2x also in BPA(business professionals of america) made state 1x, founded a club at my school and raised 2000 dollars for it, I am in the NHS, SNHS, and wrote a pretty decent essay.
Yes,you can. My cousins graduated Austin.I thought why they entered there though they got 2200 in sat, but they graduated in 3years and got a job during last school year.
Thx
I am also a eagle scout
Are you top 7%?
no top 10%
Depends what major you’re thinking of. Your record is decent and you’re within range for academic consideration, so I’d say your odds are 50-50 unless you’re applying to Engineering or McCombs which are more competitive.
what if i got a 1520 on my sat will my chances increase
Not significantly. There are already too many auto-admit students who want to major in Engineering and Business, even they aren’t guaranteed the major they want, so there are even fewer spots for non top 7% students or non top 10% students.
Also i realize my chances for engineering and business are lower but what about general admission?
General admission is a toss up, so look at the non engineering non business majors carefully.
I think because you are not an automatic acceptance, you will only get accepted to UT if you get accepted to your major. If you don’t get accepted, I think they will offer you the capped program.
FWIT, for fall 2016, my son applied for engineering. He was just out of top 10%, national merit commended, and worked as an intern at an international Government contracted aerospace engineering company as a Senior in hs (on A days he went to hs. On B days, he went 2 classes then to work). It is a program that offers him full job in time summer as long as he is in an engineering program in college.
He was rejected from engineering but offered any major other than STEM.
He chose elsewhere, as he was admitted to other engineering programs. UT is tough for competitive majors, if you are out of the top % to get in.
It depends on the major you chose. Some are easier to get in than others.
