First off, how important are SATs to getting accepted?

and on to the main question. I am pretty conservative minded and hear this school is very liberal. i can deal with that as long as i dont have people starting convos with me about how they hate the president or how they hate war then just light up a blunt or something. I also hate spending money to get me by. IE i hate high costs of living. how will i like sc?!

Honestly,

I don't think you'll be very happy. Marijuana use is prevalent. Many people WILL indeed run up to you, talk about how much they hate the president, and then light a blunt. However, if you're confident in your beliefs, able conduct yourself in a respectful manner, keep your cool and calmly explain your point of view most students will respect you and listen to what you have to say.

There is a large radical portion of UCSC. They tend to think less government intrusion, but still maintaining social support systems. They advocate more progressive support systems rather than liberal support systems. A progressive would be in favor of a program that gave unemployed people a paycheck to attend job training courses at the local community college. Their attendance would be taken and failing to show up to a day of class would result in losing a day's pay. A liberal would favor handing out checks to unemployed people for a limited number of months before government support ran out.
