I have grown up in a very liberal town that is intolerant to people who don't share the same views. I'm concerned I will feel the same at UNC. I know there are young republican groups and such but are those views accepted or do people turn up their noses? Chapel Hill is known to be very pridefully liberal and I just want to make sure I won't feel out of place at the University before I commit myself there. I really love the school, but I'm looking to be surrounded by an equal spread of views. Can UNC give me that?

UNC is a balanced enough school I think you would be fine. You might also like Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, and Washington & Lee.

Yes. My D just graduated from UNC and while there are conservative people there are also a significant amount of liberal people, which she found very refreshing. The school is very large and you will find your niche. One of the best things she did was to sign up on FB to find room mate that matched her personality and then that helped her find a group she fit into. She was OOS so she really did not know anyone there. This was one of the friendliest schools that we visited during her search.
