Will I get accepted to UW?

Just wanted to make a quick thread to see what you guys think.
Here is my schools Naviance for UW.
Our average GPA that got accepted was a 3.76UW and for the ACT it was a 32.
There is only 1 person who has similar stats as mine and got rejected, everyone else where accepted.

My scchool is weird, a kid with a low(er) GPA (3.57) and a 34 (this is the 1 kid who was rejected with similar-ish stats) on the ACT was declined but kids with a 3.7UW GPA and a 29 on the ACT were accepted.

About Myself:
Male Asian (Indian) Student who currently lives in California

I took several AP classes will graduate with 11 in total. According to almost everyone I know AP test scores don’t matter for U-Dub but I got mostly 3s and 4s and like 1 or 2 2s.

My UW GPA is a 3.7
My ACT is a 31 (yeah I tried so hard for a 32 :frowning: )

Basically I am similar to the average accept from our school so I assumed I would be a match.

I have pretty good ECs, I have done a couple business programs at UW, and some other things as well. I had a job as well. Pretty strong and well rounded ECs.

My essays were pretty good. Out of all the colleges I applied for I spent the most time on my UW ones.

No letters of rec so yeah lol

Hooks:
Parents have a pretty strong relationship with board members and dean of admissions at UW. Parents said they would make a call to a few of them, although not sure if this means much, but I think it can push me a little higher although IDK nothing is guaranteed. Not sure if a call with a friend/connection will do much as I am not sure how much that means at UW.

One thing about my parents is they like to downplay things, so it either could mean alot that they’re calling or mean pretty much nothing, so I am just putting that out there.

What do you guys say will I get accepted or declined?

So if you’re barely below on accepted average stats, I’d say the rest of your application can get you up over the bump. UW specific interest is good, although having no recs may hurt. If your parents are close to the dean of admissions, that can give you a good bump, especially if you’ve ever met the dean. Overall, I’d say you’ve got around a 60-65% chance of getting in. Good luck.

@HiEthan Having no recs won’t hurt because UW doesn’t accept them lmao. True about my stats, the only person with a GPA/ACT combo comparable to mine who got rejected was someone with a 3.57UW and a 34 ACT. I have never met the dean before but my dad and his business friends have so lol idk if that does anything.

I would say 50%-ish. Your stats, in comparison to the rest of your school, are a bit lower than average but you have connections (idk much about UW) that may help.

@SchoolShooter nice name lol yeah if I could show you the naviance graph you would see how different the people who were declined and people who were accepted were. Basically the decline average was a 27 ACT and a 3.55 GPA. Basically everyone with a 29 ACT and a 3.65 or better were accepted from my school.

I think my stats may be average at UW so maybe my connection may
help idk tho.

I would say your chances are a very strong maybe

Thanks

Hey, quick question do colleges pick by school, is my naviance accurate?nobody has applied to Babson in the past 3 years in my district for example

From my experience, your GPA and test scores sound like you should get in to the UW. Your essay and personal statement are VERY important,in fact just as important as GPA and test scores. It is essential that you go over those very carefully for spelling, punctuation and grammar. Also, to anyone applying anywhere, write those personal statements and essays from the heart. Keep them simple and you will most likely win over the admissions counselor. If you are a member of NHS, have done enough extra cirriculars and community service, you shouldn’t have a problem.
