Will I get enough money??

I have a 4.4 weighted gpa and a 1950 on the sat (560 cr, 630 wr, and 760 ma). I have one more time to take it. First of all, will I get in? haha and if so, are they good with giving financial aid and scholarships? Let me know :) Thanks!

GPA is great… SAT is lacking (not to get in, I think LMU is a safety for you, but for major merit money you are going to need a 2000+). You especially need to work on CR… 500 scores are ugly. LMU gives out quite a bit of money, but you are going to have to raise your scores a write killer essays to get the big bucks.

If it helps, I got a full ride from LMU this past year with a slightly lower GPA, but a higher SAT score. I really liked the essay I sent in my suppliment; that may have been a contributing factor as well.

Seeing that you got a full ride, what were your SAT scores? I hate it when people ask people to chance them but I guess I’m doing that now…
What are my prospects of getting financial aid or possibly a full ride if I have a 3.9 GPA, 2100 SAT (CR 670 W 700 M 730), and 32 ACT?
Does it also help if my dad graduated from LMU?

Papertowns: Yeah no worries. I had the same overall SAT score. 3.8 uw GPA and 4.3 w GPA. Being a legacy should help. I think you will get a good scholarship. With an interesting essay (private schools seem to take essays seriously) you should be in the running for a presidential scholarship or something along those lines. I’d also make sure to apply to the honors college (it’s a separate app that is done after the first app is sent in; you can find info on the LMU website).

I’m just going to let you know, LMU is HORRIBLE with financial aid. My GPA was 4.0 weighted and 1940 SAT and I only got a $3,500/year grant. Really disappointing. I talked to the financial aid office and they said they have started cutting back on scholarships a lot to save faculty. In the past they were known for being generous (my friend with lower stats got an $11,000/year scholarship), but not so much anymore. Plus their applicant pool is becoming a lot more competitive. A 4.4/1950 student would have been one of the top applicants a few years ago, but now that’s more of the upper-middle range.
