I go to a small liberal arts college in Massachusetts. My first year, my financial aid package was great! I was paying 10,000 for the whole year. Last week, I got my financial package for this year. 10,000 dollars was taken out of my grants and turned into loans! I don't know why (nothing changed in my family so there was no reason for it to increase) but when I contacted the financial aid office and asked them to reconsider my status, they sent back a revised estimate that was barely different. I will now have to pay around 26,000 dollars this year if I stick around.

So I'm thinking about transferring. The problem is I don't know what school will give me adequate financial aid. Transfers, I heard, don't get much but I don't know what to do!

My question: Are there certain schools that give very good financial aid for transfers? Both need and non-need? (Either around New England or not...the first is preferred but not required.)

My stats:
3.89 GPA (3.67 in HS)
2020 SAT
32 ACT (35 on English section)
Writer/Photographer for school paper
Writing tutor for the school
Column writer for large online newspaper/community
Internship at small Boston TV program (I managed their social media/blog.)

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Even information about alternatives. Should I take a semester off and apply? Are there programs I can do for a year and reapply for a Fall semester?
