I go to an accredited private school about 35 miles away from GT. SAT scores are 1740 and I plan to take it again. I'm ranked 1st in my class (about 90-95 students), and have a 4.2-4.3 GPA. I want to know what my chances are of getting into GT. Please let me know if I should get in or not.

I think your SAT scores will hurt you. Take a course/do a lot of studying. Specifically, work on your math score for Georgia Tech (I think a lot of engineering programs are a lot more sensitive to math scores.

I’m not sure if GT requires SAT IIs, but consider taking the Math 2 test.

Is that GPA weighted or unweighted? Is it on a scale of 4.0?

Your ECs may be a little on the weak side as well.

However, you are in state (inferred from your 35 miles away) and public schools generally give favor to in states.

Write phenomenal essays and try to get phenomenal teacher recs.

Definitely apply and good luck!

Consider, obviously, also applying to some backup schools/other match schools and maybe a couple reaches.

The GPA is weighted, but is higher due to the fact that I’ve made lots of 99-100 in some classes. I know my ECs are low, but I have plenty of community service and a little work experience. My math score was 600 and I hope to get it up to about 650. Do you think I should take the ACT as well?

I think that you would have a really good chance if you pulled up your sat scores. Also try to find a way to make yourself stand out. If you do that, then I think you have a good shot :)
