Also, i have been investing in stocks in the stock market since i was 14 years old. I have worked for my dads business for 2 years now as a partime job. I want to major in business. for Michigan State.

I took some hard classes in high school so my strenghth of schedule is good. 2 AP classes and other Advance classes.

Any opinions?

Thanks.

you have a shot. Have you taken the SAts yet?

I'm pretty sure a 27 qualifies you for merit money, so I'd say if you get that ACT up you'll be in the running. Are you in-state?

I have not taken the SATs yet but yes i am In-state.

I think you should be OK. Definitely apply early, and try bringing up the ACT a few points. (Quick, start cramming! haha) An essay about your stock trading would be cool. At least make sure you explain it well.

Good luck! I have some good friends who go to MSU.

Yeah i definately am ready for the ACT the practice tests have given me some high scores 27 and above and i sure will mention the stock trrading in the essay. Thanks.

Around what time should i apply september-ish?

That should give you enough time. Give your teachers all the recommendation stuff the first week of school so that they have enough time to finish it by then. Let them know that you're going to have all your stuff in by the end of September and would appreciate it if they'd do the same (I know someone who got screwed over at U of M because their teacher recs got in over a month after they turned in their stuff, making them miss the Early Action deadline... it was kind of ugly).

Ideally, work on your essays when the topics come online, and have your junior and senior year English teachers take a look at them when you get back to school. And then you should be good to go!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Also, a 27 is an awesome score for MSU. Good luck on your test tomorrow!

I disagree with rdh1991. A 3.111 and 22 ACT gives you almost no shot, you'd be a long, long reach... Big popular schools like MSU, although easier to get into than a UM or Berkeley or UCLA, still have a lot less flexibility than, say, an LAC with around the same averages as MSU: last year around 3.6 and 24.5, respectively... Get your ACT up significantly, and you'd have a better shot although Michigan State tends to have a more grade-oriented admissions process... Good luck.

It'll be definitely hard to get in with the stats you have now, but I'd say if you make it a priority to do well in 1st semester senior year that will improve your chances. Make sure to mention to MSU that they are (one of?) your top choice. Hopefully you can get a 25-27+ on your ACT for at least a better chance, or possibly try taking the SAT's. Good luck!

I disagree with you Quincy. MSU really prefers tests scores over grades. But dont get me wrong they are both important.

Okay so how do i present the 1st semester grades to MSU i mean after i apply do they recieve them somehow?

You apply and send in your transcript as is (with your grades through junior year). But as soon as your school posts your 1st semester senior grades onto your official transcript, re-send in your transcript (typically during January).

Quincy is correct, your current ACT is below the middle and your GPA is not a shoe-in but if you are in a competitive school district it might pass muster. I would guess that MSU will require your first semester grades before they make a decision based on what happened to kids we know.

yea i go to Plymouth-Canton schools one of the best in Michgan about 6000 kids go here, really compepetitive. And i honestly think i did awsome in the ACT yesterday. So hopefully that should bump it up.
