Will I get into Texas State?

Hi, I was wondering if i would be able to get into to Texas State.
My weighted GPA is a 2.8, and my unweighted is a 2.3. I know they are very low. I am a senior in High School. My SAT score was a 1330, but I am retaking in two weeks for a higher score. My ACT score was a 20.
I was in high school cheer for two years, and also was involved in quite a bit of community service.
I am aware of going to a junior college first, and then transferring but I do not want to do that. Please give honest feedback. Thanks!

chil… You will get in no matter what! easy i promise

just apply to texas state straight up

@needtogetinuomn Why would you say she’ll get in easy? Just curious. While Texas State isn’t a difficult university to get into, they do reject a quarter of their applicants. OP is below the 25% for both the SAT and ACT. Combine that with a low GPA and I would hardly say it’s a lock. I would suggest retaking your standardized tests if possible or going to a CC for a year or two. I understand you said you don’t want to do this but there’s no stigma to going to a CC. I went to one for two years and got an AA before transferring to UT-Austin. You might be able to get into better schools if you go to a CC for a year and work hard. You’ll also be more mature and better prepared for college at that point.

I currently go to UT austin but my friends had terrible grades. Texas state is a party school. All the people from my school who have done bad go to that schoo. If you are decent in grades you will easily accepted to it

@needtogetinuomn Yes, I’m well aware of Texas States reputation as a part school. That fails to answer the question of how you think someone with below 25th percentile scores on both the SAT and ACT, plus a 2.3 GPA is an easy acceptance. People do get denied after all. Just for the record I’m not saying OP shouldn’t apply, but they probably don’t have as good of a chance as you’re making them out to have. Hence, why I suggested a gap year or CC.

@danfer91 i agree with you but i think he/she should apply! i live in texas i know most of my friends either go to tech or texas state. my school most people ranked 300/400 got in. he/she might not get academic scholarship but they will get loans or grant. Worst case is waitlisted but if waitlisted be sure to give a letter of interest and a letter of recommendation.

if you dont get accepted i agree go to collin for a year then transfer into texas state
