No, you won’t get in. Stop asking.

You have a good GPA so you might get in. I think your biggest problem is that you are applying to a major called “Math Econ” and while I really do not know what that entails, it probably has something to do with Math. However, if you are trying to transfer this year the admissions committee will not have had an opportunity to see what kind of grades you get in Math before they have to make a decision. That puts them in a situation where they have to make some assumptions about your Math skills without supporting evidence.

I honestly think you won’t even get into regular Econ anywhere. Unless you TAG’d into UCSD. You are better of to try next year.

you already asked this question and got numerous responses:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1070478-how-alternate-majors-reviewed.html

@itransfer…it’s because I didn’t complete calculus 1 an 2 in time?

yes, let’s go with that

Did you complete the C++ class?

Yes I did…for some reason I started pretty late on calculus…@Nero…sorry for asking too many questions I’m just very concerned.

Math-Econ has a much higher acceptance rate and lower transfer GPA than regular Econ…but then you don’t have many pre-reqs completed. You pretty much only have the regular Econ prereqs completed, except C++.

If you could stay for another year complete Linear Algebra, Calc3, and Differential Equations, while keeping the same GPA, you’d have a pretty solid chance of getting in, but I wouldn’t bet on your getting accepted for Fall '11 considering you have so few pre-reqs completed.

Yeah that’s exactly what I was thinking as well…I’m probably going to do that. Just sucks that I have to stay another year at a crappy CC…thanks for the input though.

You haven’t even taken your first calculus class. I think it would be pre-mature to decide that you want to major in math. Trust me, you want know that you like math and know what it is about before you major in it. It is nothing like the pre-calculus stuff that you have been exposed to so far.

Yeah that’s true…math Econ is my alternate major bus. Econ is my first choice. Hopefully after staying Another year at a CC I won’t have to resort to math Econ lol

You don’t have to resort to math econ. There are other UC’s. You don’t have to go to UCLA.

I don’t like how people would ditch their desired major just to go to UCLA. I don’t like how people would choose to do a non-impacted major just to attend UCLA.

^ lol AMEN!

I always thought it was odd when people rated their own essays. I mean, I always think my essays are 10’s…its usually the professor who tells me otherwise.
