Since it is almost over, I’m working on my college application and what schools are right for me. I looked at the University of Illinois and I think it’s a good fit, but I’m not sure if I can get into the major I want: biochemistry. Also, everything I list here is because I wanted to do it and not because it’s for college. It doesn’t hurt that it is for college, but this is what I like to do.
I have a 3.85 GPA
ACT: 28
Writing ACT: 9
I am a two-time senator on student government(2 years)
I am a varsity tennis player and played up on varsity freshman year and since sophomore year I played on varsity.
I work with Saint Jude and helped with all Telethons (on tv and raised money locally), Radiothon (worked over the phone and answered donations), and walkathons (helped set up decorations and generally cleaned, etc). I worked with saint Jude since freshman year and plan to continue.
I mentor (since sophomore year) students in study period through our school where they put students and mentors together. Last year, I almost got to reteach subjects for students, but no one needed it.
I also am part of an organization (4 years- I will do my fourth year next year) that send students to Haiti to build houses every two years and helped raise over 10,000 dollars this year.
I helped with special Olympic which I called lines and helped the kids and adults at a tennis match (this year and plan to do it next year).
I don’t know what I could do more if anyone, could please help? I am applying early action and I want to know if I would generally be thoroughly looked at and if I have a shot at being accepted. It would be greatly appreciated if you could help! Thank you very much!
