Large improvement in grades from freshmen year to junior year. Freshman year mostly C's and B's, junior year almost all A's. No honors/AP classes (ill have on AP class senior year). All regular level classes.</p>
<p>Probably not. Most people who were accepted from my high school had 30+ ACT and were top 5% of the class. No one outside the top 10% or with ACT below 27 was accepted.</p>
<p>Are you from Illinois? If you are You Can get in with those grades. My daughters gpa was higher than yours, but her ACT was lower. You don’t know until you try. Preference is given to Illinois students. She has a lot of stuff going on, but do try.</p>

<p>You’d be at the bottom 25%. That’s not a good place to be. Those kids are often athletes, maybe URMs, and other special admits (or maybe full pay OOS students…LOL)</p>
<p>Moreover, the fact that you are not in the top half of your class is especially damaging. As I indicated, no one outside the top 10% has been accepted at my school.</p>
<p>It may depend on which school within the university you’re looking at… some will be harder to get in than others. Engineering, for instance, will be a lot harder than some of the other colleges.</p>

<p>I hate my class rank. I wish I had listened to my counselor freshmen year about how important it is to get off to a good start. Now i’m stuck cramming as much as I can. By the way, the GPA I gave you is currently, once junior year is over it will be updated, and hopefully raised.</p>
<p>My mother is single, two kids, and her income is just above the poverty line. We qual for a lot of financial aid. We have other sources of money but we found out ways to hide those. I heard this is good when applying to a college since they dont want to look like they only accept rich students with two parents.</p>
<p>Its really to bad junior year is the year I started to really pick up my act. I also am excited to apply to Iowa state, which im quite positive ill get into. My best friend is going to UIUC (he got a 33 on his act, when I found out I nearly **** my pants…). My act score sucked because a lot of the science portion was chemistry, which I DESPISE. I enjoy the volcanoe sections and ones that have to do with physics. </p>
<p>I was kinda hoping my job would help me get in. The fact that I have to work every other day truly does affect my studying time. A lot of times I cant study at all for some tests because of a lack of time. The fact I have held it for two years along with getting a promotion from working as a bagger to working as a grocer (stocking shelves) I hoped would show a lot. I have a killer essay also.</p>
<p>One question, my essay is centered around Aerospace engineering. If I apply to UIUC for aerospace, and lets say I cant get into aero but I am good enough to get into general studies, will they offer me admission to that?</p>
<p>Oh one more thing. I have also recieved a certificate of appreciation from jewel for excellence in customer service. I guess a few customers called in about me. Not much, but its something…I think.</p>
<p>Just try to improve your GPA.

<p>There is an option for you, if you are willing to travel the road less traveled. You never mentioned if you were from Illinois or not, but if you are, this would be a guarantee to addmissions in UICU. Its a great program. Good luck</p>

<p>That looks like a great program, especially because it grants access to UIUC campus resources (usually, lack of access to internships/co-ops is the biggest drawback to transferring).</p>

<p>How long would I have to stay at parkland for? I am equally enthusiastic about go to Iowa state as well as U of I but the difference is is that my best friend will go to u of i almost for sure (33 act) so i would be able to room with him. He says I would probably get admitted. Im really just not to sure. My highschool counselor said its a maybe. </p>

The facilities are one in the same. The program is the only difference (And classes offered). Will you and your friend be able to live together? I don’t know, but you will be on the same campus. My understanding is that it is like a Junior college program (So I’m thinking two years). You need to research the site, and call if you have questions after that.</p>
