Will I get into UT Austin?

Hi, I am a senior in a public high school. I have heard that getting into UT Austin is progressively getting harder especially with the decrease in the auto admittance percentage: from 7 to 6. So I just wanted to get a rough idea if I could get in or not. I got a 1540 on the SAT and I’ve recently taken 2 subject tests but I’m still waiting for results. I have around a 4.24 weighted gpa but I’m still around the 12 percent mark because of the competitiveness at my school. I’ve taken over 12 ap courses and have scored higher than 4s on all of them. I have over 200 hours of community service along. I will be applying to cockrell school of engineering so how good of a chance do I have?

You should get accepted because you have everything except for the rank and unfortunately, that puts you in the maybe position. Apply, but also apply to other schools. You would be a definite acceptance any place else in the state and you would probably get honors and scholarships at the other schools.

If you are instate, you have an excellent chance.

To get into engineering or computer science, you probably have around 50% chance to get in depending on your classwork.
For other majors, it should be easier for you to get in.

Update: I got an 800 on the math level 2 sat subject test and yes I am an instate applicant. Does that improve my chances of getting into Cockrell School of Engineering.
