How does your school report grades, by semester or by the year? If it’s by the semester that F is going to raise some concerns. Call the school and discuss it with them.
The general rule often quoted on CC is to avoid D’s, F’s and felonies.
The F could be an issue if it shows up on the finial transcript sent to college (sometimes a HS only sends final grades and if that was a C or better it could be a non-issue). If the F will show up you might want to get out in front of the problem – contact admissions at your college, let them know if you had a special issue this semester, ask if it will be an problem and if you can remediate it.
If there was a special circumstance this semester I’d also ask your guidance counselor to write it in a note attached to the final transcript.
F’s would be problematic…I agree iwth @happy1 if there was a particular circumstance then i hope you had let your GC/teacher know so they could have worked with you…but anyway talk to your GC about how to let the college know about the F and the circumstances.
