Will I get rescinded?

Hello everyone!

So excited to say that I’ve been accepted to UCLA this upcoming fall! I’m a pre-applied math major. I dropped AP Physics C my second semester due to severe health reasons. In fact the exact wording that I submitted to them was “I dropped AP Physics C second semester due to health circumstances I faced in the first semester of my senior year. During this time, I underwent severe diabetes-related complications, leading me to miss a month and a half of school. The complications were not stress-induced, but rather a severe reaction to a change in my treatment and a subsequently long recovery. This event heavily affected my achievement at school, including a borderline “C” to a “B” in my AP Physics C class, a course that requires regular attendance for lecture and lab work in order to succeed. As I was unsure whether I could regularly attend school for the remainder of the year, I decided to drop this course for the second semester.”

Is there a huge chance I will get rescinded? If anyone has any experience with this stuff PLEASE let me know! I’m freaking out :frowning:

bump… sorry I’d really appreciate if someone has insight about this!

You have a compelling medical reason to drop the class so just make sure UCLA is aware of the circumstances and they acknowledge it. Save any documentation/communication with the school and you should be fine.

No one on this forum will be able to provide a definitive answer. It behooves you to reach out directly to the admissions office and determine your fate prior to the May 1st deadline. If it’s a rescind, you’ll have a chance to SIR to another school with a less restrictive policy.

UCLA’s provisional admission policy specifies a 3.0 unweighted GPA with no more than 2 C’s Senior year so even with one C, you would not be in danger of being rescinded as long as you have notified UCLA about the schedule change. There is definitely no harm in contacting UCLA Undergrad admissions to confirm.

@summeramaranth Congrats for your admitted to UCLA Applied Math major! Do you mind to share your stats (SAT General Test scores, SAT Subject Test scores & AP test scores (4 or 5,…) ?
Thank you!
