The Ohio State’s website says that recipients should have an “SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Math score equivalent of 1350 or higher”. My score is 1340 and my school doesnt rank. My GPA is about a 3.9. Let me know if you think I will get it!!!
Unfortunately the awards are very numbers driven and they don’t go below the cutoff so it doesn’t sound like a 1340 is eligible. I hope I’m wrong.
Unfortunately, your SAT score renders you ineligible for this award. If you have taken the SAT more than once, you can check whether or not OSU will superscore your results.
To add there are many applicants whose stats exceed that threshold and still don’t receive that scholarship but receive one for the next one or two levels down. Knowing that I think it would be unlikely for someone who doesn’t meet the threshold to receive that level of scholarship.
My son was one of those students who is well above the threshold and did not receive the award (ACT 32 & GPA 3.8/93 with honors, AP & IB classes, good EC’s, leadership, etc.). There are classmates of his with much lower grades that did receive it, so I’m sure numbers come into play, but there has to be more to it. He applied one month before the deadline, was accepted into the Business school & Business Scholars too. It could have just come down fate and having been at the bottom of an enormous pile.
