if I don't attend the Summer Engineering Weekend? I know that if I don't attend that weekend (I'm in L.A. and it will be tough for me to make it that weekend), I can still register online a little later in July. But I've heard some rumors that the incoming SOE freshman class may be over enrolled, so I'm wondering if it might be a bit harder than usual to get a spot in my required/recommended courses. Does anyone know whether "most" admitted SOE students actually attend the Summer Engineering Weekend?

Thank you.

I don’t know anything about the Summer Engineering Weekend, but you will be fine when you register in July. You are guaranteed to get into any time-sensitive courses for your major.

The engineering summer weekend must be new this year.

As already stated, you’re guaranteed into your required classes - calc, chem (if you’re taking it freshman year), physics, intro eng. class. I have never once heard of a freshman engineer being unable to take one of these classes because of enrollment caps.

That being said, it is possible that you may get crap times for recitations or a section you didn’t really want. 8am chem lab sucks…

BUT - some of that is being upperclassmen have already registered, and in many of those cases going to this new weekend thing might not even help. When I was a freshman & registration opened for all engineers at the same time, I had to rearrange a few recitations. IMO, it’s probably not worth the money.

Thanks to you both. That’s good to hear.
