Will I not be accepted into college??!

9th grade - in the hospital for sucidal issues, meaning I missed most of the entire year, still passed, low grades
10th grade - depressed, low grades, 2.5 gpa
11th grade - (my school does quarters) 3 of those quarters were distinguished honor roll (3.75+) and 1 honor roll (3.65)
Senior year just started, gpa is higher a lot. I have done cheerleading for past 3 years. Volunteered at an animal shelter (had to stop because I am actually allergic to cats). Work at a retirement home. I am taking an honors class and trying to level up to AP.
Do I have any chance at college? Like temple , penn state, or u of Tampa?
I am so nervous, I wish I wasn’t like that in the beginning of high school
1070 out 1600 on new SAT. But I am retaking in October. Do you think I won’t get in?

There are 3000 colleges in the USA. There is a college for you. You will definitely get into A college.

Your Guidance Counselor can include information abotu how you were sick 9-10 grades. Hopefully you are under a doctor’s care and have made progress.

Also you may not want to go to school terribly far from home so you can have support.

But maybe you don’t get in to Penn State (main), but a satellite campus at first, and then transfer after 2 years when you have proven your self.

Be proud that you have made progress in getting better!

Focus on your senior year classes. Don’t worry about the extra-curriculars unless you really enjoy them. Drop those that interfere with your academics. They won’t help you at all with the sorts of colleges you’ll be targeting. What you really want is a track record (both for yourself and colleges) that you can handle the academic work. Given that you’re now a senior, it’s unlikely you’ll get into any AP classes.

Community college is a great stepping stone for those who haven’t really excelled to potential during HS. Try the SuperMatch tool on the left panel of this page. Also spk w/your guidance counselor for choices.

If you google the “common data sets” of potential target colleges, each section C will give you GPA and test score ranges for typically admitted students. I assume by the end of this semester (if you get a 3.5), your cumulative GPA will be about 2.7 or 2.8 for your seven semesters. Some colleges may not look at 9th grade and that will help you greatly. Good luck!
