Will I survive EECS?

Having been admitted to EECS at Berkeley, I am super excited and flattered; however I am not sure if I can handle the competitiveness in the EECS.

Here are my high school stats
SAT: 2010 (M720 R610 W680)
SAT2 MATH: 790 CHEM: 600
GPA: 3.85 (My weakness is in the English area; thus, my GPA is not 3.9~4.0)
Top 15%~20% of the class

AP CLASSES TAKEN:

AP Calculus AB and BC
AP Computer Science AB
AP Physics C: Mech & EM

I am very aware that my stats may not be in the "range" of the admitted. I am willing to work really hard, but sometimes that is simply not good enough. My goal is to graduate with GPA 3.2, but it would be even better if I can get 3.5. Going to Berkeley is almost like a dream coming true, but I am being put off by the competitiveness that is ubiquitously mentioned.
How would it be to reach my goal?

Also, as a EECS major, are there a lot of English/History classes that I will be required to take?

If you’re highly motivated then I don’t see why not. Also, aim for a 4.0, not a dam 3.2; it’s not as difficult as you might have heard… generally around 30% of grades awarded in EECS courses are A’s.
