Will it look bad on apps if I quit...?

Right now I'm working a bussing job at a local privately owned authentic Italian restaurant. It's not much, but it's a job I've really enjoyed in the past. I've grown up in and around restaurants and food has always been a big part of my life, as well as anything having to do with my Italian heritage. I was actually planning on writing something about this on college apps.

But now there have been some new hires and quite honestly I can't stand them. All of the friends I had at the restaurant have quit or been laid off. It's not that I can't get along professionally with my coworkers, I definitely can. But it has become a misery every night to clock in, and it's hardly even worth the money any more. I really want to leave the job but I'm worried about how colleges will look at me dropping my job right before the end of my junior year, especially considering how hard it would be to find a new job. Thoughts???

I can’t imagine how it would matter to colleges. They don’t expect you to be working, and they won’t know about your quitting. Why the angst?

I wouldn’t bother. Colleges want to see that you’re dedicated to what you do outside of academics, but I doubt they expect a 17 y.o. to be passionate about bussing.

Colleges won’t care. If you don’t need the money, quit and let someone who is broke get the job.

Get involved with something that you enjoy.
