Will Kenyon want my son?

Kenyon is his first choice school. He wants to be a writer.

770 reading/ 630 math/ 710 writing

ACT 32

NM commended

homeschooler with about 12 college classes completed- weighted GPA 4.5 (with college classes treated same as high school AP) Also A's in graded courses through EPGY.

very passionate in areas of interest, which are writing and history. Portfolio and transcript reflect this.

lots of community service, but few ECs

published writer- online at gamer's site and serious articles in local newspaper
waiting for SAT II scores

from New England, so geographic diversity may be in his favor.

thanks for your comments!

He looks like a good candidate. Math a little low, but he's not pursuing the sciences. The main thing now is for him so show interest in the school. Visit, email a professor...showing real interest for the school is key.

Thanks, Mizo. I appreciate your candor. My son has visited, has emailed several people at Kenyon, and will be doing an alumni interview soon. We're contemplating attending an informal get-together for prospective students, but it's at least two hours by car, in New England, in January. I'm hoping that he can get a lead on something closer to home if he inquires.
