I applied early decision to Middlebury and was accepted. However, I’m really afraid that they will rescind my application. I’m trying really hard in school (as always) but I had a stressful quarter because I was gone visiting colleges and missed about 3 days of school. When I got back it was hard for me to catch up and learn new material simultaneously. I got an A in AP lit last quarter and an A this quarter, and the same for French. I got a B both quarters for physics. But my AP history grade went from a B- to a C+ as did math (my most difficult subject). Am I in danger of being rescinded? I’m not blowing off school at all, I’m actually trying really hard!
I doubt it. Just work to improve your grades.
I think it’s unlikely given that it’s just a single grade slip.
Seriously doubt it esp since you have the rest of the year to pull them back up and show what you’re made of.
You’re about to be the source of four years of tuition. Maybe you won’t feel the pinch – your parents and your loans will be hooked for it. But Middlebury isn’t gonna kick you out unless it’s something major: you’re a huge source of revenue for them.
My nephew got a C in one class after being accepted early decision from Columbia. Columbia asked him to write a letter explaining why he got a C. He owned it and wrote a reasonable explanation with an apologized and that was that. So don’t stress too much but try to pull everything up to a B if you can.
The people that know work in admissions at Mid. Assuming you’re talking about grades they will see and not just interim reports, then talk to them! They will see the grades anyway, and you might as well find out what they think now instead of next summer.
This happened to my younger daughter. She received a letter saying the school admitted her based on certain standards that they expect her to maintain. She raised her grades back up so I’m not sure what happens if you don’t, but I don’t the institution will rescind over half a letter grade.
