Will MIT accept teacher's recommendations

after deadline ? Deadline is tomorrow, my son is a typical procrastinator. We had a few snow days prior to Christmas so school closed earlier, which he didn’t expect. He has been trying to contact one of his teachers entire break without success. MIT is the only college he is applying to that does not specify anywhere recommendations can be sent in later. Does anyone know how it works in reality ? Will we waste application fee money if he applies there anyway ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Does it make sense applying if teacher’s recommendation status is unclear, or most likely it hasn’t been done ?

It shouldn’t matter. The letters will take some time to be recorded in the online application checklist. They send out an email after about 6 weeks after the deadline stating that they have processed all the mailed materials, and if there are any discrepancies, to fax the missing material ASAP. They state that they always give the student the benefit of the doubt in this area.

Don’t worry, most schools accept school documents that are a few weeks late. Tell your school to send in the materials some time by February, which is basically the deadline for late school materials. Otherwise, just submit the online application by the deadline, and you’re fine

They will accept it! No worries. I had these problems last year where my recommendation didn’t get documented. I simply had my counselor fax my recommendation over to MIT.
