Will my 1st semester senior grades hurt me??

My senior class schedule was
AP Calculus AB: C-
AP Literature: A-
AP Art History: A-
Intro to Law: A
Physics: B+
Government: B+

Both physics and government I was really close to an A but my teachers wouldn't round, I had an 89.7 and an 89.5. It was so frustrating!!!!

I'm worried about the Calculus, but I find that subject extremely hard and I was happy to pass.

This was my first C ever.

Before this semester, I had a 3.8 or 3.9 unweighted and a 4.1 weighted. I only got 3 B's in high school before this semester.

I applied to Santa Clara, USC, UC davis, UC berkeley, Uc santa barbara, san jose state, and Stanford.

Which colleges may look at this semester as a potential deciding factor??

You’ll be fine.

bumping time

Yes they will. I would cross Berkeley and Stanford off of your “may get accepted to”-list, and probably Santa Clara and Stanford on top of that. It doesn’t matter how happy you are about your AP Calculus grade; these schools don’t accept C students and they may accept students with a very little amount of B’s.

Too bad you slacked up. You will regret it.

^UC Berkeley doesn’t look at midyear reports. None of the UCs do, for that matter.

Dont listen to wallrus. From what I’ve read he/she is incredibly rude in their posts and had no idea how to communicate thoughts in a respectful manner.

What is your GPA from grades 9-10? I had a similar concern where I’ve had all A’s thus far but didn’t do so hot mid-year wise. My counselor said I should be fine.

Cross off Santa Clara because of one C?

Is that a joke?

Sorry for the mistake! You should have a great chance for Berkeley and Santa Clara then (I also thought Santa Clara was harder to get into.)

I would still say Stanford is an extremely high reach, but I guess everyone has at least one of those.

“What is your GPA from grades 9-10? I had a similar concern where I’ve had all A’s thus far but didn’t do so hot mid-year wise. My counselor said I should be fine.”

I had all A’s and 1 B from 9-10 grade. And I got 2 B’s in all of junior year.

bumping time again

Your grades show a negative trend. Unless you have a valid excuse, you will not get into Stanford; Berkeley might be a stretch.

Negative trends are frowned upon.

Again, the UCs ** do not look at midyear grades. ** I don’t know why you guys insist on ignoring this fact.

sorry, I meant USC when I said Berkeley.

Hi, so you’re probably in college by now. Would you mind telling me what happened in the end? I’m in somewhat of a possible situation as this one and definitely worried about Stanford.
