Will my acceptance be revoked?

I was accepted to a prestigious college. I have done well in Physics C. I have gotten an A+ first quarter, two B+ second and third quarters…I have also done well in my other classes. In Physics, my whole grade for the fourth quarter is only based on my final exam. The final was a mock AP exam. I did well on the multiple choice but the FRQs were very difficult. I thought I did okay, but it turns out I didn’t. I got a one. This puts me at failing physics. Will the college rescind my application, because it’s only one bad grade and my final grade for the class will be a C?

This has never happened to me before and I’m terrified.

Terrified? You don’t understand how they see you: you’re extremely qualified to be successful at their college and you are **the source of four years of tuition. ** Unless a huge screw up (I define as Ds, Fs, Felonies and Fraud), they’re not going to kill the golden goose – which is you.

You’re fine.

But I received a scholarship that covers almost everything.

Which means they see you as a great success story, one to be touted and boasted about. Please stop worrying. What about “no Ds, Fs, Felonies and Fraud” have you veered into?

On another board, I challenged all the HYP admitted students to purposefully drill down and get a C in a core course – *simply because they had the freedom to do so.

  • You’re fine. But it seems my words aren’t going to change that in you…

"Terrified" Youngsters of about your age are sometimes literally in mortal danger, due to military service. Trust me, that can be a truly terrifying situation. A “C” for in Physics simply is not. I know you’re young – but you’re also smart – so putting inconsequential difficulties in an appropriate context just might be a helpful skill to master.

@TopTier I see where you’re coming from, but I think this question was probably posted to get an actual answer. Screwing up on a test actually could have an effect on the rest of someone’s life so I completely understand why this person might be nervous; I would surely feel the same way were I in this situation. @Btlk751 With a C showing as your final grade, the college probably won’t even know about the F and will just see the C for overall. Plus, a C in AP Physics is pretty impressive in my opinion. By this time there are probably enough classes on your GPA that it shouldn’t change that very much either. If they’ve accepted you they think you’re a good student and will be successful at that school. I hope this grade doesn’t change that for you! Best!
