Hey everyone, just a quick question. I am currently a junior and I go to a competitive Catholic private all-girls school. I know your class rank is an important factor in determining whether you are accepted or not (as is everything else) and right now I have a 3.8 (unweighted) but the thing is, I'm only ranked inside the top 50%. Yikes, not so good. At this point Georgetown would for sure be a reach for me, but I definitely don't think it's impossible and just wondered if that class rank would end up being a serious downfall. Thanks for your input!

Well, are you in a class of two? Your class rank wouldn’t be that bad in that case. However, because I am going to assume that you’re not, your rank will certainly be a huge detriment. Even so, a bad class rank will not make your chances totally impossible, just nearly impossible. With phenomenal scores, a major hook, and wonderful essays, even a top 50% can be overcome (but it doesn’t happen often).

I’m going to have to agree with the above statement; your chances are basically 0 with a rank like that. It’d be one heck of a victory if you get in though so good luck!
