Hi! I didn’t do so well starting High School (hence my stats) but I know Stanford doesn’t look at Freshman year grades when your GPA is recalculated (GOD BLESS). My stats aren’t perfect but I’d like to know if they could be the sole reason I get denied (disregarding test scores, extracurriculars, awards, recommendations) Thanks!
Freshman Year (Not Included):
First Semester: 3.0
Second Semester: 2.1
Sophomore Year (Included):
First Semester: 3.0
Second Semester: 4.0
Junior Year (5 APs) (Included):
First Semester: 4.0
Second Semester: 4.0
I think you need to learn a bit more about what S looks for and how. Read their website. You don’t get in based on gpa and they look at the transcript, see the rigor and grades. They care less about electives and you can count on most real contenders having tippy top grades, throughout. Then, a whole lot more matters, to match.
No bump for weighted and you haven’t mentioned scores. Or ECs. They ask for all 9-12 transcripts but place more emphasis on 10-12. That’s not necessarily a benefit.
For the last class, 28% of applicants had a 3.7-3.99 gpa and 4% of those were admitted.
Thanks for letting me know! I’m aware your GPA/Transcript isn’t the sole deciding factor and never will be. It is impossible to make a judgement when you look at a student’s transcript without considering their test scores, extracurriculars and achievements. I just wanted to hear your thoughts on wether or not my GPA alone would weigh down my application. Thanks again.
