Will my math class choice hurt my chance of admission?

So in sophomore year, I took Calc BC at my school. There was only one math class at a higher level than that (Math HL), but I couldn’t take that until I was a senior. Any other math class would have just been taking a step backwards (my only real other option was Math SL). Instead, in my junior year, I took an online class at a CC, but it was only for one semester, and it definitely wasn’t very advanced; just basic stats. Will this hurt my admissions chances at SLO? I am just worried since the process is so automated, it will look like I just skipped out on a semester of math. I suppose I could have taken another math class at a CC for second semester, and now I am really worried that deciding not to will come back to bite me :(.

If you took math through BC, you’ll be fine. Where it can hurt you is if you have the opportunity to take a “real” math, but elect not to. You’ve taken the most advanced maths your school offers.

Now, on an unrelated note, you’ll be two years removed from real math. If you did well enough on your BC AP exam you can jump right into Calc 3, multivariable. If you choose that route make sure you review heavily. Look up old Poly exams online for Calc 1 and 2 plus their syllabi and make sure you’re prepared.

Good luck!

@eyemgh‌ Actually I am taking Math HL right now, which at our school is largely a repeat of Calc BC (we are even in the same class as them) so I think by the time I finish I will be pretty prepared to make the jump to Calc III. Thank you for the other info as well, it is nice to know.
