So I messed up in the high school credit courses I took in middle school (Alg1, Hon. Geo, French 1&2) and finished with 5 semester B’s and now (in 12th grade) I have a UWPGA of 3.83
Someone told me that colleges couldn’t care less about middle school grades even if they count for high school credit so that brings my UWGPA to 3.91.
Which one?
I’ve gotten too many conflicting reports so if someone could clear it up
Thanks
Nobody cares about your grades before HS, even if they are on a HS transcript.
do they realculate GPA
There is no master list of who recalculates, how they recalculate, or why they recalculate. Regardless, an AO can skim a transcript and do the math. Additionally, most colleges look at upward trend. At the end of the day though, the 8 basis point difference in GPA is akin to a pimple on an elephant’s butt. This is a non-issue, and will not be the reason any college rejects you, if that happens.
It seems that your Hon Geo should be added in your HS GPA whenever you took it. It is a math core class so it will be added.
There is no “should”; if a HS class taken prior to 9th grade is added to a HS transcript (and how) is totally up to the policies of the HS/district. My own HS added them to the transcript, but with a grade of “P” and did not include in the GPA calculation. Other high schools differ.
bro which college is out here caring what you did when you were 13 years old
No colleges care but my county adds Algebra 1, Honors Geometry, French 1, and French 2 only (all classes that I took in middle school), however, I did badly in these classes. WITH my middle school grades as of now (12th Grade) I have a 3.83 UWGPA, however, I recalculated my high school UWGPA to be 3.91. For my own purposes is it a fair statement to say that I have a 3.91 because as everyone has made clear EVEN if Algebra 1, Honors Geometry, French 1, and French 2 appear on my transcript and get factored into the GPA that colleges see. They will not care (or barely care) about my middle school B’s. This a relatively important question because the GPA that colleges see is 3.83 and is lower than the averages at T10 schools, but a 3.91 is slightly above average at T10 schools and if I am competitive at T10 schools I will apply to more.
All T10 schools (however you’re defining them) look at more than just your GPA. GPA and other stats are simply one part of the application.
Sorry to keep on asking but for my own mental sanity can I think of my GPA as 3.91 or is that an unfair statement
You can think of your GPA as however you want, nut you need to report your GPA as it appears on your transcript. For your mental sanity, you should do the same. Really - it’s not a big deal.
So what it sounds like your saying is that T10 colleges wont take the GPA at face value because my grades generaly show an upward track 3B’s (7th) out of 4 semesters, 2B’s (8th) out of 4 semesters, 1B (9th) out of 14 semesters, 1B (10th) out of 14 semesters, and 2B’s (11th) out of 14 semesters
