I was recently arrested for minor operating a vehicle with a BAC of .02-.07. I am currently in school ( college ) how should I go about this? Is there a chance my school could find out? I am waiting for court date.
The police are not going to report it to the school. However, I believe financial aid asks when you complete the fafsa next year. It depends on the final outcome by the court whether it is a dui or gets knocked down to something like a wreckless driving. You definitely need legal representation.
Thank you for your Input for my mental state right now is all over the place and any feedback does help. I am in the process of finding representation, as that is my first priority.
You need a good lawyer who hopefully can plead it down or delay court long enough that it goes away but it all depends on where it happened. Admittedly it can be in the local rag paper but I seriously doubt college financial aid offices are going to go looking for it. Nonetheless you are innocent until proven guilty. But do not drink and drive with any alcohol because you are more at risk of being pulled over and checked with that in the police system.
^ Or, y’know, don’t drink and drive because you can kill innocent people.
School may be your immediate problem but not the only one. Most employment applications ask about your arrest record and any convictions.
Highly doubtful school finds out. You can also have it expunged once you have fulfilled whatever sentence you receive (assuming you get in no other trouble) so employers won’t see it either.
Expunged records makes it so most employers will not see it. However, there are some jobs where even expunged records are visable.
The question on many employment application’s is whether you have ever been arrested. Makes for an ethical dilema to answer that one.
Maybe you can try to twist it and write your common all essay about it. You can possibly say it was an experience that changed your your life and write about how it changed it you and made you realize how short life is and how u have to be responsible with the things U do or something like that-on common app u have to report disciplinary records so you might have to include that but use ur essay as a chance to explain it
There would be no expungement if OP is found guilty.
OP: Get an experienced DUI/DWI lawyer & try to get into a diversion program. If available, it should clear your record.
The OP states that he is already in college so essays aren’t relevant.
