Will my senior year grades cost me my scholarship?!

I’ve just graduated high school, and I applied to Alvernia University early this year, and was accepted. I received a presidential scholarship of 17k a year, which requires a 3.5 GPA and a SAT score of at least 1130. My high school showed me my GPA the end of my junior year for the first and last time, and it was a cumulative 3.8 on a 4.3 scale. My SAT scores were a little over 600 points above the average previously stated. The scholarship is the only way I can afford admission, and I received very very little financial aid. My grades sophomore and junior year were all either A’s or high to mid B’s in regular classes. Senior year presented many problems socially and with my mental health, and I ended the year with three grades in the high 70’s (C’s?) and four in the B range (mid-high 80’s). Now I’m worried that I am going to lose my scholarship. I was out of school a lot in the beginning of the year, one period of time after another, for many different reasons (one being that I was injured). I don’t know what to do now, because I’ve only now recieved my end-of-year grades. My senior year average is a B-, and I’m panicking.

Forgot to mention- actually GETTING the scholarship had those requirements. I was told that I have to keep a 3.0 during college for the yearly renewal.

What is your cumulative GPA?

Since you are concerned - call Alvernia.

@laurenisokay I applaud you for your screen name - please remember why you didn’t choose the screen name

I have a pretty good feeling that if you explain the situation they will accommodate you - as most of the time they are based on what you had at the time you applied. They most likely would have spelled out if there was a requirement that you graduate HS with that GPA, as opposed to the more standard requirement that you had to not fail any of your remaining classes.

Congratulations on the scholarship!

@Madison85 since junior year, I have not been able to access my GPA. Our school has a strange weighting system, and they grade with number, not letter grades (hence my above confusion with what letter grade would match the numbers on my report). My cumulative as of junior year was a 3.8 out of 4.3.
@3puppies they’ve been very helpful so far with these sorts of things. I didn’t fail (phew) and the GPA requirement switch really confused me lol, since to get the scholarship I needed a 3.5, and to renew it through college each year I need a 3.0. I will talk to them though. Thank you

Lauren…what is your GPA NOW?

Do you have a copy of your transcript? It should say your cumulative GPA.

If your cumulative GPA was a 3.8 after junior year and you had 4 Bs and 3 Cs for an average of about 85 ? (85 is the lowest for B in our school district), then your cumulative GPA should still be above 3.5 I would think.

@thumper1 @mommdc they didn’t include my GPA on my final transcripts that were sent to me. I can’t access much more than that right now, if ever.

@mom is right, your GPA should be above a 3.5. Also, the scholarship has already been granted to you. IF the scholarship read “you must graduate with a 3.5”, you would be in trouble. You only need to keep a B, (3.0) in college to keep the scholarship. Also, the school should have already sent your transcript to the college, and they would probably have contacted you by now if there was a problem.
