Alright well, i was wondering about the Presidential scholarship. If i get over 2250+ but don't have an A gpa. Can i some how talk to the people in charge and tell him a reason why i do? My GPA is probably a low 3.5 but itll most likely go up to a 3.7 by senior but i heard they dont look at your senior year..do they? I take honors and AP classes, but i made a lot of wrong choices that effected my grades. (i got in a relationship for the first time and it murdered me.) (My parents fight and i can't focus and they bring me into it, and i just get discouraged.) (I was put into the wrong class my accident and my teacher wouldn't do anything about it, making me more discouraged about trying.) And it just adds on, i really want them to know because i really want that scholarship. I was ranked 3 in my high school but because of so many issues i dropped all the way to 20 and it just kills me inside because i know i dont deserve it. Im still in the top 3% of my class and everything but still. So if someone could enlighten me that would be great. Please and thank you. For the record I want to Major in Computer Science, but i dont think that makes a difference.

Where do you go to high school? I find it hard to believe you’re in the top 3% of your class with a 4.1… anyway high school is a hard time for many many students. I know it was for me and I’m sure what you’ve been going through has been tough but its entirely a numbers game, nothing else is taken into consideration

If money is a problem, consider other alternatives. Rutgers is tough with scholarships but apply to some other schools as well; your SAT scores may get you more money at other places. You might also want to consider a community college for the first year or two and then transfer into Rutgers.

You’re not necessarily locked out of being considered if you apply with under a 2250. I know a Presidential Scholar in this year’s freshman class who has a 2190.

Don’t tell me these things! That’s what D1 had and she got a fairly small Scarlet Scholarship. (She’s quite happy, so I don’t want to complain).

Never heard of anyone getting a presidential with a score under 2250 unless they took ACTs and got 35 or better on them. Rutgers is all about numbers for merit aid.

I don’t really know her academic stats. But my friend described her as a “goddess” in the piano. She must’ve been really talented to be able to get the Presidential.

yes, i assume so since they say that students typically achieve a 1900 before receiving merit aid and that you can only get a max of 1600 with only Math and CR.
