Will my terrible financial status affect my application?

I have applied to Rice, and wondered if my poor financial status would affect the decisions of the admissions' counselors. I realize that Rice is need-blind; however, I have also heard that people who do not require financial aid have a better chance to get in. I hope that Rice is truly need blind, but I also wonder why they would shell out so much money to pay for my college when there are many more qualified candidates who may not require aid. Thanks for any opinions!

Rice is need blind for all domestic students. You’d be surprised how many people need aid. Not a lot of families can pay 50K a year for college. I believe at least 50% of students at Rice are on aid.

Rice is need blind. Many people as modulation said are on aid

If you are academically qualified, then you should be set

No. Your financial status will not affect your decision.
