Will my transfer acceptance to UCLA get rescinded?

Hi everyone,

I am currently freaking out and going into panic attacks and was hoping that someone, ANYONE, could give me their opinion on this pickle I have gotten myself into.

I am a second year community college student, I applied to UCLA in the fall of 2014 and recently got my acceptance letter not too long ago. My admission contract states:

"Maintain the grade point average and complete the courses and number of units as reported in your application and in any subsequent course updates. You must be in good standing at your last institution of attendance. Also, if you attended another UC campus in regular session prior to enrollment at UCLA, you must have been in good standing when you left that UC campus. Notify our office immediately of any withdrawals, incomplete grades, drop in academic performance, or other changes to your class schedule. "

This semester I have gotten extremely lazy and let my grades slip. My current GPA is a 3.56 and got admitted as a Philosophy major, which is not impacted.

I believe I will end up getting a C and 3 B’s this semester. The C will be in a major prep class as well, which is not good. This will drop my GPA to a 3.4. I was wondering if any of you could give me advice, tips, and your honest opinion on wether or not I will be rescinded. I would really, really appreciate it.

Thank you so much!

That wording usually means keep a 3.0 and no Ds or Fs. I wouldn’t worry so much about the C. However, the glitch could be if you don’t have a 3.0 for this term. Work on alleviating that problem.

You should be fine.

The C in a major prep might be an issue, but I don’t see it as being a big deal for a philosophy major.

Do you have a CC counselor you could talk to about it? Can you do anything to avoid the C?

I don’t want this thread to turn you more panicky. While none of us are admissions, I think we all agree the C will not rescind you, even in a major req. Your overall GPA is still high enough. There is nothing in your provisional to remotely lead to a dire assumption, and it simply never happened last year under these circumstances. I was vague before because of some screwball who kept yelling at me that I am not admissions. But the truth is the standard provisional essentially means don’t flunk out. It’s been pretty much noted this way across several platforms. So please, don’t start panicking.
