So heres the deal, throughout all of my 2 years at a CC I have maintained a 4.0 GPA. Up until this last semester I may not have a 4.0. I was overwhelmed with the amount of work this semester and keeping a 4.0 is now out of reach. I am a Math/Econ major, which as you may know is clearly not impacted. My current classes right now are English 1B, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations and Calculus III. Toughest semester by far.

Now I know I will get an A in English and a B in Linear Algebra, but I may get a C in Calc III and Differentials but of course I am gonna work hard not too.

Just out of curiosity, do you know anyone or heard stories of people being rescinded for two C's. Even with these grades my GPA would still be around a 3.7. People say you need a 3.0 your spring semester but those requirements are not stated in the provisional contract. Much insight and advice on the matter would be great. Thank you.

Hey Marc… My story is so similar to you. Last year I got admitted to UCLA as a math/Econ major I got a D for differential equations and tried to hide from admissions. Long story short when admissions found out in the summer my admission got recinded immediately. Had to go tHrough a 1 month appeal process and had the decision reverse by a miracle, I think you should be fine but try to get at least a C.

On the provisional contract it says no Cs in major reqs and only 1 C allowed for non-major reqs. When i asked admissions about it they seemed to not really care about getting only 1 C major or non-major req but they probably will care about 2 Cs both as major reqs but im not sure.

Thanks guys, of course its always safe bet to avoid C’s but this last semester was just extremely tough. Afte going through threads I found some individuals not being rescinded even with two C’s in major prep classes. I also emailed one of the individuals who directly handles with admissions and said getting one or more C’s is not subject for automatic rescinding. In a case such as this, they view your application as a case by case basis.

I would understand if I completely failed by classes and went from a 4.0 to say 3.0, but my potential drop is only from 4.0 to 3.7 So if I do receive two C’s, hopefully all is well. I understand others have been in this position and its nerve wrecking so I will make sure to post my results.

By the way, if you know any stories of individuals going through the same process or similar, let me know, I am curious as to what the results were for some individuals.

Random question, how are you even able to take Calc III, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations in the same semester? A lot of the concepts in Differential Equations require strong grasp of Calc III and Linear Algebra.

I go to Riverside City College and they allow us to take Calculus III, Differentials and Linear Algebra together if you want to, but for me I needed these courses for my major so I attempted take them concurrently in one semester. Of course, it is unusual for someone to take all three concurrently but I needed to finish these courses before Spring.

UPDATE: So I submitted that I did receive two C’s in my major and I was not rescinded. They sent me a new provisional contract that I must now maintain a B average in my summer courses.

Thanks for the update!
