They don’t care about your nontransferable courses. When you fill out your application, they’ll only be looking at your transferable courses, not your nontransferable ones. However, you do need to have 60 transferable units total by the end of spring semester in order to have a chance of being accepted.

Where are you applying? UC Berkeley College of Engineering looks at your whole gpa.

^^But you do still have to input your non-transferable courses

What if I have coursework from a 4-year private university (NYU), which on the TAG application shows as Non-ASSIST Certified, but could still potentially be UC-transferable? For example, I took Calculus I at NYU which should definitely be transferable.

Will my NYU coursework factor into my UC-transferable GPA? More specifically, does Haas look at the transferable GPA or the whole GPA, as the College of Engineering does, mentioned above?

wait, what? when did I say they didn’t? by whole gpa I mean nontransferable+transferable.

Wait, so we’re supposed to list our non-transferable classes? Since they’re not listed, does that mean we just add them in manually?

^^Yes, you were suppose to add the non-transferable courses manually in the TAG and the UC application

Non-transferrable courses from a CCC will be on your transcript, but they will not affect your UC GPA.

As for the NYU example, it’s not a CCC, and it sucks, but that calc class will be part of your transferrable GPA. I know this because I’ve seen a bunch of people not get into schools for that very reason: They had like 1 bad semester at some university, and unfortunately, that GPA is carried over to CCC.

@ emilsinclair9:

It’s not the Calc class I’m worried about, which I got an A in, it’s the other classes I didn’t do too well in. What if I got a C+ in a very specialized/specific class (it was called “Texts & Ideas: The Deliberating Citizen”) that potentially might not be UC-transferable? And how do I find out if it is transferable or not in the first place?

My NYU GPA is 3.3 while my CCC GPA is a 4.0 right now. But if that C+ isn’t factored in because it’s determined as non-transferable, the UC-transferable GPA that they consider for admissions should be higher, right?

And wouldn’t they also consider the fact that NYU courses are significantly harder than CCC courses?

Sorry for all the questions but I just want to know which GPA I should be looking at to gauge my chances. If all my NYU grades are indeed transferrable, I’ll probably have to reconsider applying to Berkeley Haas or UCLA BizEcon because of my relatively low GPA…
