I am looking to apply to Tisch as a transferring film student. I had a particular piece of mine in mind for submission. It only runs about two minutes long and is comprised entirely of old footage found on archive.org, so I did not shoot any of the video, however it was completely edited by me. It is a very strong and evocative piece and always holds the fascination of those who watch it, so I think it could be very successful in showing Tisch my ability to edit and create powerful whole pieces of art, but I am concerned as to whether or not they will consider it because of the many clips of footage all being from archive.org and not shot by me. Any thoughts and insight?

Not an expert on this, but from an ethical perspective, I would think if you acknowledged the source of your footage and only claimed to be the author of the editing, you’d be okay.
