Will placement testings and make-up classes hurt me later?

I’m a slightly older student going into Community College. (Still in my 20s but it’s been a few years.) I had to do placement testing because I have no high school transcripts (long story). I had perfect scores in Reading and Writing. However, mathematics was poor. I performed better than I thought I would on Pre-Algebra and Algebra but I still have to take 2 semesters of developmental mathematics courses (non-credit). Will this hurt my chances of transferring to a 4-year university? Will these classes/test scores show up on a transcript?

Whether or not those courses show up on your transcript is school dependent, but I would assume they would. However, as long as you reach an appropriate math level before you attempt to transfer, it shouldn’t be held against you.
