I took the Oct. 1 SAT and scores are not availabe until this thurs. the 20th. Will they make it to my EA schools that have a Nov. 1 deadline on time? Is there an option to have them rushed?

No there is no option, and they will arrive in time, don’t worry good luck!

Dean J’s blog, Notes from Peabody gave an excellent overview on SAT test dates and timing of getting the scores to schools. It’s a great read.

That blog would be fine if it was completely accurate but it is not. The part that is wrong is claiming that ETS will take 5 weeks to process a score and send it if you wait to order the send when the score comes out. That “5 week” assertion comes from the days before Al Gore invented the internet. Actual time from order to sending score electronically is really seldom longer than a week and usually only three to four business days even when ordering volume is at its heaviest like right after scores come out, and if rushed it is usually no longer than 2 days. These days it actually takes most colleges longer to process the score and match it to your account once it receives it than it takes CB to send the score. CB still warns that it can take three to four weeks for regular delivery but that would be true only if the college itself had only mail delivery (I don’t think there are any left). You should be fine if you order it sent regular delivery Oct 20 when the score comes out. Many universities don’t want “rushed” scores, although all of those created that rule before a little over a year ago when CB made a change to rush sending. Rush sending was previously done by mail. Now it is also done electronically so it is no different than sending regular delivery except you might cut a day or two off the sending time but reality is that you do not need rush sending.

Not all colleges accept scores electronically. Not all students use free score report. They wait to see scores, request them, then wonder why they are not there instantly. It doesn’t work like that. There is a lag, sometimes a much longer one then people anticipate.

That blog (to use your words) is written by a dean of admissions at the University of Virginia. She commonly goes by the name of Dean J, which is also her screen name here on cc. I’m sure she fact checks. If you feel you’ve found an error feel free to contact her.

(btw, please use paragraphs when writing. It makes it much easier to read.)

No worries. Your scores will get there in time for the adcomm to review your application.
