I was reviewing my SAR today and I discovered that I made a huge typo on the investments question on the application by accidently putting one too many zeroes on that question. After making the correction my EFC was cut in half. Will the schools I'm applying to receive the corrections?

Thanks

I believe so. Maybe someone on here will know for sure. Let's bump this up.

Yes your schools will receive yorucorrections. Remember if you applied to more than 6 schools, deleted those schools in order to add the additional schools, don't forget to go back to make sure that every school has received the corrected information

How do you do that?

Sybbie, I have corrected the data and gotten back new information. I haven't changed the schools yet. I am going to change tax information now and leave the same 6 schools. In a week I will add 2 new schools and delete the rest. The first 6 will have all the new information from the 2 changes. The other 2 will get a brand new updated version. Correct. Why is this so difficult for me to understand!?! :)

The FAFSA deals with "live" data so the schools will recieve your most recent update.

If you make changes tomorrow, and submit those changes, the first 6 schools will get your changes. When you make the replace the 6 schools for the 2 new schools then the last 2 schools (total of 8) then those schools will have that same updated information -that is why most suggest waiting a few days between changes to make sure the information has been updated, it usually takes 3 days for processing

The bright side is barring any transfers, you won't have to do this again, because you will only have to deal with one school. By the time your child goes to grad school, you will be able to step back.

I have been hanging around this place for over a year, but I would say this is initiation by water, fire?.......;) Thanks
